Costume Party

Now that we are in our new house(and in a neighborhood), we can finally go trick or treating! We used to live in an area where there were not very many houses. We would have to drive to different neighborhoods to go trick-or-treating. Most of our time was driving around instead of getting candy at lots of houses. That was not very much fun.

We are going to have our first costume party, too! We are going to invite a few families, roast marshmallows, and have fun! All of the kids will trick or treat together in the neighborhood and then play at our house.

I am planning on dressing up as a scary ghost. I wonder what everyone else will dress up as. What are you going to be dressing up as for Halloween?

Our party is going to be so fun. I can hardly wait!

Halloween

As we prepare for Halloween I became curious about it. I looked up information online about Halloween and thought that I would share with you what I found.

Halloween is really the eve of All Saints' Day. We get to celebrate it by dressing up and trick or treating or giving out candy. Halloween is primarily celebrated in the United States, Canada, Ireland, and the United Kingdom. It is said to orignally have roots from the Celtic festival of Samhain as well as the Christian holiday, All Saints' Day, however it is mostly a secular holiday celebration today.

What are you going to dress up as? Happy Halloween! :o)

My Flagstaff Soccer Tournament

Last weekend, I went to Flagstaff for my soccer tournament. Me and my Dad rode up early Saturday morning with my friends, Chandler and Jalen. They are both are on my soccer team. Later that afternoon, we had our first game of four games. We won it 5-0 or 6-0 I can't remember. I got 3 goals and 1 assist. I'm happy won that game. Later on, we had our second game. At the end of the game, the final score was 4-0 we lost. Bummer, but it's all right because that team was the best team in the state!!!

The next morning, I went downstairs to the first floor of my hotel, called The Drury, to go eat breakfast. Then, we checked out of the hotel and went to the fields for my next game. We were playing the Blackhawks, the second best team in the state. At the end of the first half, the score was 1-1. At the end of the game, the score was 3-1 we lost. Later on, we played our next game. At the end of the game, the score was 3-0. Darn, those teams were hard, it's all right though because we were playing in the gold bracket when we should have been in the silver bracket.

I'm happy I got a little taste of what good teams are like. It was a fun tournament overall. I hope I can go back up to Flagstaff someday. Oh well. I think this is about it. Bye! :D

Scorpion Hunting

My dad started to hunt scorpions six weeks ago, he found a scorpion on the driveway the first day we lived here. When he saw that same scorpion, it was dead. How creepy. Then, I found a scorpion hanging above my basement shower. I told my dad about it, then he came and knocked it off the ceiling! A seven foot free fall had to infuriate him. He fell right into the bathtub! "The tail's up now," stated my dad and he killed him with my shoe! He then flushed him down the toilet. After he killed him, my dad told me he was going to start hunting scorpions.

We are now at 150 scorpions killed altogether. I found one and killed two. I found the 150th scorpion and killed all by myself, except for my dad holding the UV light. Let me guess, you're going to ask if he ran and oh yes, he ran. He sprinted, and he almost outran the blowtorch, but when I got him, he fell to the ground and struggled for his life, but, I couldn't give it to him.

And that was our 150th scorpion killed in just six weeks. Wow. I think I should close now. Bye! :) :D

Travel Soccer Fun!

Two weeks ago, I had a soccer game in Tuscon at 12:30 in the afternoon. I had to be out there at 11:45 in the morning because that was when warm ups started. After warm ups, we got on the field and the game started. I started out the game on my usual position, center forward. Although, I also do play center midfield. At the end of the game, we won 6-3. I got 2 goals and 2 assists. Overall, the game was quite fun.

Last week, I had a game in Peoria at 8:00 in the morning. I had to wake up at 5:00 in the morning and we had to leave at 5:55 because we had to be there at 7:15 for warm ups. Once we were done with warm ups, the game started. At halftime, the score was 1-1. We came back and beat them 4-2.

Overall, both games were a lot of fun! I'm happy to be playing travel soccer. I love it! I hope to write again soon!!! :D

My Brother's Huntington Beach Tournament

On Labor Day weekend, we went to Huntington Beach, California for one of my brother's tournaments. It was also like it was a vacation. We stayed in a hotel called Double Tree Hotel, which comprised of seven stories. We were on the fifth. If you go on floors 2-7 they'll all look the same inside. The lobby was very luxurious and whereas the breakfast rooms (if you look up) had chandeliers. The basement was the parking area. There was also a restaurant (for lunch and dinner) called The Bordeaux Restaurant. I wanted to take a look inside, but my mom and dad said, "No." Oh well. I really liked the hotel anyways, so that was good.

Now to my brother's tournament. My brother's tournament games were 1-2 one win, two losses. On our last game we played for third place and we won I think 5-0. It was somewhere around there. We didn't make the playoffs. Oh well. But I liked that last game anyways and the playground, so that was good.

Lastly, I went to San Diego to see family. A cousin of mine named Jocelyn had a game that one night we stayed there. I don't really remember the score. The next morning, Jocelyn had another game, but I stayed home along with my brother and Jocelyn's brother, Justin. I had fun that time playing Halo 3. But once the others arrived I had to leave. I was already having fun, I was loath to leave. But overall, I had lots of fun there anyways, so that was awesome.

Well, I think I should close now. See you next time!

School Subjects

In home school, my best subject is math. The subjects I love most is math and reading. Right now in math I'm learning pre-algebra and in reading I'm reading The Fellowship of the Ring, from The Lord of the Rings series by J.R.R. Tolkien. It is a great book and I hope to be able to read the whole series. In Math I am learning about using negative numbers in equations.

It is late and I need to get to bed. I will write more next week.

My Easiest Subjects

My most favorite subject would be spelling because I happen to like it probably on how good I am at it. If someone needs help on word, I would be glad to help! I made it to my school Spelling Bee in fourth grade. When it was my turn one round, I had to spell the word, "critic". They said I got it wrong when actually got it right. When I heard the bell, I was aghast. Overall, I still did pretty good. I'm glad how I'm gifted on spelling.

Another easy subject of mine is math. I learned a lot of math throughout my whole life and I'm very happy about that. I hope I learn more stuff about math this year and my future years too. I'm glad I know a lot of stuff!

It's A Blowout!

My last indoor soccer game was killer. I was late from being stuck in traffic by a quarter (eight minutes) of the game and I still gave my team a goal. I got my team's third goal that game. It was exciting. I was the goalkeeper for I think the third quarter and I didn't allow any goals. We played The Aliens and we blew them out by a final score of 7-1. It was the best game of the season so far. In case if you're wondering what my team name is, we're the Red Bulls.

He Shoots, He Scores!!!

Last Friday, I had a soccer game. I was playing against my friend, Daniel. Right now I'm starting to play 11 v 11 (11 players on the field for each team). I scored my first goal in a long time since I've been playing with a new coach and now that I'm center midfield instead of center forward. I can't remember the final score but I think we won 5-2. Overall, it was a fun game. I can't wait to write again!

The Start of School

Today was the first day of school and it turned out great. We talked about the subjects we would be learning like math, spelling, latin, etc. I can tell this is going to be a great year. I can't wait to write again!!! :D

The First Day of School

My first day of school wasn't actually that bad, but it was a little long. My mom was just talking about stuff that will happen this school year to me and my brother. Today, we covered: reviewing last year, organizing notebooks, weekly agenda sheets, reading list, daily routine expectations, introducing the new year, me and Kyle's expectations for the new year, how many days in a week/how many hours in a day[to do work], and creating a journal/writing a blog like I'm doing right now.

Summer Indoor Soccer

I started my indoor soccer season in the middle of May.We have played 7 games so far and we have 1 indoor game left to play. Our last game's score was 4-0.My team has so far 7 wins, 0 ties, and 0 loses.I'm looking forward to playing my last indoor game for the season this Friday.I'm starting my outdoor season in August.I hope to write about my outdoor season soon.

Stack Attack

I had this Minute to Win It party at my church last Thursday and I discovered in one of the game videos a game called Stack Attack. If you want to know how to play it, read this: There are 36 cups in 1 stack. You will have to stack all 36 cups, just how I did it in the left hand picture and then, you will need to stack them down into that 1 stack again in 1 minute or less. Hint: 8 cups is the base (bottom).

Now find 36 of the same kind of cups and try it! My personal record is 44 seconds.

Looking forward to what summer has to bring

It was our intention to use this new blog to go along with our home school curriculum, mostly in a fun way to help with our typing and writing skills.  Well, April has been a crazy month and we have not been able to get anything posted here.  We have been sick most of the past month and had a ton of other unexpected "stuff" come up.  So, with that, we hope to use this as fun fill-in during the summer months when the books are not screaming at us so much.  We are almost finished with all of our book work for the year and will work more at posting here once all that is behind us.  We have a packed and crazy summer as well but hope to get this blog off to a good start over the coming summer months. So, stay tuned.....

The Start of Something New

Welcome to The Press Room!

We are a home school family that loves to make learning fun and are always in search of finding new ways to accomplish this. "The Press Room" is one way we hope to make learning fun. Not only will this blog help with our writing and typing skills, but through it we also hope to meet new people that we can share and "report" about life with.
